Gary Memorial United Methodist Church Activities
- SENIOR CHOIR
Gary Memorial has an outstanding musical program under the direction of Sandy Adkins, veteran music teacher of Wilde Lake High School in Columbia. Any person desiring to be a part of this ministry is always welcomed.
- SCOUTING
Gary is home to Boy Scout Troop 1997, Cub Pack 1997, and Girl Scout Troop 2519. The natural setting of our historic building inside Patapsco Valley State Park on the banks of the Patapsco River provides an excellent site for outdoor scouting activities. Persons interested may contact scouting coordinator Ken Wingate at 410-465-3121. Those interested in Girl Scouts should contact Deanna Trask at traskhome@msn.com
- ANNUAL FALL HIKE AND COOK OUT
Each year Gary Memorial hosts an annual Fall hike and cook out. Here's some pictures from our 3rd annual hike.
- WE CARE COMMITTEE
The Gary We Care Committee is a devoted group of members who assist individuals and families in times of sickness and the loss of a loved one. New volunteers are welcome!
- FAMILY MINISTRIES
The week after Thanksgiving in 2005, 2006, and 2007 the congregation of Gary Memorial UMC hosted the Grassroots Cold Weather Shelter. Between 18 and 23 homeless people were fed and housed in the church. Members of the congregation planned and prepared three meals a day, as well as provided transportation and laundry services for the guests.
- OTHER ACTIVITIES
Hunger Sunday, Christmas collections for Salvation Army families in need, Blood Pressure Monitoring, Holiday Bazaar, Halloween Party, Easter Egg Hunt.
